Left coast artisan burgers,Itaewon. Probably the best burgers in Korea

I have been having cravings for pork buns since may 2011, that was the last time i was at Momofuku ssäm bar. So i was very happy when i read about Left coast burgers in another food blog.
The restaurant is only 2 months old but it feels like they have hit their heads straight on the nail. This kind of place is what really is needed in Seoul, where really good burgers is so hard to find.

The food is really great, we started with Kalbi fries, in house made french fries covered in braised shortribs, pickled onions, sour cream and pickled chili. It´s a big portion but perfect for us 3.
Next we decided to try all the bao buns, they do a chicken a pork and a Kalbi one. And i must say that they are all really good the chicken is topped with crispy chicken skin, wich gives it that edge that it needs. The pork one is pretty damn close to the momofufu one, but the pork was a little to crispy and i miss that Sriracha kick. The kalbi buns was also really good, the sesame leef was that thing that completed the dish.

Then we tried the burgers. And they were awesome. There is 5 burgers on the menu but we were starting to get full so we only dared to order 2. Juicy lucy is a stuffed burger, i love stuffed burgers it´s like having a calzone but it´s made out of meat. The burger is filled with cheese and topped with caramelized onions, its was sooo good.
But the best one for me is the John Wayne, big burger topped with a massive fried onion ring, crispy bacon and a tangy smoky barbecue sauce, the burger buns are perfect and made in house. All burgers come with a small side of macaroni slaw, think coleslaw but with macaroni instead of cabbage, really really good.

Left coast burgers is a place i will return to many many times. Great food, good drinks and friendly staff.

Bockholmen Hav & Restaurang, Stockholm

A late post from this summer. Me and my wife managed to get a date night while we were back in Stockholm. We went to Bockholmen just outside the city centre. The restaurant is beautifully located by the water in an old villa. The food was really good and the service was great. A perfect place to spend a summer evening in Stockholm

Gumsoo Bokgook Fugu restaurant Sinsa-dong

I have been wanting to try Fugu for a very long time, and now i have. My friend Rachel took me to this 3 floor Fugu place in Sinsa. Apparently there are only a handful of restaurants that are certified to serve Fugu. This place does Fugu in many many ways.
We had Fugu 2 ways, deep fried and a soup. It was a lot of fish and it was really good, next time i´ll go for the sashimi. My friend Rachel said that the Fugu soup is very good for curing hangovers. The broth was amazing, very clear and with a very delicate flavor and lots of bean sprouts and bitter greens. A really great soup.
The fried fish was soo good, it had the texture of a very meaty Mackerell but very white in the flesh.we got whole fried tail, and fillet, one with spicy sauce and one plain. The side dishes was also very good as usual in Korea. Korean style Fugu is something i´ll will have a lot i think.

I have been on holiday in Sweden for a couple of weeks. It has been much inspiring food wise. But after a couple of weeks i started to have cravings for Korean food, so as soon as we got back so Seoul, i went outto get me some Gamjatang or Pork bone soup. It is a fantastic soup with big chunks of meat, pieces of potato and lots of onions and herbs. It is seasoned with wild sesame seeds witch gives it a fantastic taste. The restaurant is called 24 h Gamjatang and is open 24/7. I really love this place for 6000krw you get an amazing meal, thats about 6$.

Homuran, Cheongdam

Homuran is an Japanese restaurant located in the SSG Food market in Cheongdam-dong. SSG is an upscale modern marketplace similar to whole foods in the US. The food was very good, we started with Maki with soft shell crab. That was the best maki i have ever had, extremely crispy crab wit a spicy mayonnaise. Soo good. And then we had cold Soba noodles with dipping sauce, also very good. The texture of the noodles was perfect and the sauce was amazing i just added a little more wasabi.

I will go back very soon and have the soft shell crab again, maybe even this week.

Western China, dim sum Hannam-dong

We have a dim sum restaurant close to where we live. I have walked past it many times but never really wanted to try it. I love dim sum if it´s great. Yauatcha in London is one of the best dining experiences i have had. And i have eaten lots of bad dim sum as well.
But this was acctually pretty good. The shrimp dunpling was not something i would order again, but i ordered one more portion of soup dumplings. I will go back to try some more stuff. 3/5
